Welcome to Reznet
Reznet is a connection through the college network to the Internet, available to students in residence at King's University College. Residence rooms are equipped with a network jack that will allow you to link your computer to the King's Campus Network and the global Internet. Reznet is part of the residence experience! For more information on the Reznet service, visit our FAQ.

Know your limits!
To ensure network performance and fair access for all, bandwidth limits are in-effect. "Bandwidth" refers to incoming and outgoing network traffic generated by your computer. Network traffic is generated by downloading and file sharing. Each user is limited to 10 Gigabytes of on-campus bandwidth per day, and 4 Gigabytes of off-campus bandwidth per day. Excessive bandwidth consumption is subject to suspension of service for a minimum of five (5) days. Bandwidth limits are subject to change based on network capacity. Please see the Bandwidth FAQ for more information.

XBOX 360 and PS3 Users!
Would you like to configure your gaming console for use on Reznet? Before your device can be added to the network, we will need to know its MAC address. XBOX Users: please see Finding the MAC address of your XBOX 360 for more information. Please remember that all registered computing devices are subject to Reznet bandwidth policy. Once you know your console's MAC address, use the Support request form to have your device added to Reznet.

Prevent Supernode Status
Do you use Skype and are you a PC user? UWO ITS has created a document that demonstrates steps to take that will disable supernode status. Supernode status can rack up bandwidth and lead to Reznet service suspension. Practice safe Skypeing!

Why is my computer blocked?
If your computer is compromised by a virus or malware that poses threats to other users, or has exceeded bandwidth limits, the Network Security Office will block your network access in an effort to protect other Reznet users. If you are blocked, your network service will be suspended or moved to the Quarantine Network until measures have been taken to rectify the problem. Please contact the Residence Office for more information.

Protect your computer!
Is your user account protected with a password? If not, your computer is subject to spyware and hacker intrusion. Ensure that you protect your computer with a password-protected user account. For better security, use passwords with mixed letter case, numbers and symbols. More security tips for your Windows PC can be found on Microsoft's Protect Your Computer page. More information about securing your computer can be found at Microsoft's Security At Home site.
