Information: Professor Norman Pizzale obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario in 1981. 2006 saw the completion of his Masters of Law at Western with his thesis focusing on the intersection of International Trade Law with ecology. He is a partner with the law firm of McNamara Pizzale and currently sits as the Coordinator of the Brescia University College Council of Trustees. Prof. Pizzale is committed to municipal politics and local issues pertaining to environmental sustainability which works include: written and oral submissions to London City Council on its Draft Official Plan in 1988, its Draft Zoning Bylaw in 1990 and drafting a proposed Pesticide Bylaw in 2001; written and oral submissions in 1993 to the Sewell Commission on environmentally sound long-term planning goals for municipalities; utilizing a unique legal concept of land trusts to create ROSE A Land Care Association in 1991; working with the London Coalition Against Pesticides from 2000 to 2006 to help secure a bylaw banning pesticides and working with Imagine London in 2006 to help create the new 14 ward map that was first used in London’s 2006 election. Prof. Pizzale published an article entitled “Estate Planning for Parents with a Handicapped Child” in 1984 and he has unpublished reviews of Spraytech v. Hudson (2001) 2 S.C.R. 241 and Monsanto v. Percy Schmeiser (2001) 202 F.T.R. 78. He has been an adjunct Professor at Western Law and a repeat guest lecturer at both Western Law and St. Peter’s Seminary on NAFTA Chapter 11, the WTO, Globalization and Transnational Corporations.
